- John Eliot Gardiner's recordings of Handel oratorios won many awards including the Gramophone Award for outstanding choral recording for Jephtha in 1989. All of this to announce that finally Gardiner brings us his first recording of a Handel opera with Agrippina.

- The story, set in Rome, is fictional, though it involves historical characters and touches on real events around AD 50. It emphasises the seductive side of Agrippina who was willing to do anything to make sure her son, Nero, became emperor.
