- "I'm not the one writing my music," Claude Vivier once said.
"Perhaps it's written by the flowers I smelled, a gesture I made, people
I saw, the stars, you never know..."
Vivier was born in Montréal and died in Paris in 1983. He studied composition
with Karlheinz Stockhausen. He developed a highly personal musical style as
well as a language of song existing of series of syllables, plucking them from
different languages such as Dutch, Italian and Balinese.
