RECORDING INFORMATION
This is the second of two units devoted to the elusive, distant, mercurial genius of the piano known simply as Michelangeli. The recordings stretch from Michelangeli's very early years, during World War II, right up to 1975.

Most celebrated of these recordings is perhaps the Brahms "Paganini" Variations from 1948 which perfectly demonstrates his fabulous pianistic control, although other musicians were unhappy about his amendments to Brahms' music such as leaving out or re-ordering variations.

The 10 Mazurkas by Chopin from 1972, and the 4 Ballades, Op. 10 by Brahms also reveal his poetic side.

Over 149 minutes of music on two CDs for the price of one.
